Compounded preparations are generally supplied as a private script and are priced per formula. We will quote you before we make it. Your PBS eligible medicines can still be dispensed with us.

Compounded preparations are made individually, so they are not dispensed over the counter in minutes. Timing depends on the formula and ingredient availability. We will give you a time frame when we confirm your quote.

Yes. Compounded medicines are prepared to a valid prescription from your doctor, dentist, specialist or veterinarian.

No. It depends on the active ingredient, its stability in that form and whether the route of administration is appropriate. Our pharmacists will review the prescription and tell you what is possible before anything is made.

2- Send us a photo of the script through our prescription upload form or bring it in store. We will confirm the formula and give you a quote.

3- We will let you know when it is ready. The original paper prescription must be received by the pharmacy before the pharmacist finalises the supply.

4- Leave your repeats on file with us and call when the next one is due.

Suppositories

Nasal sprays

A small soft tablet that dissolves slowly between the cheek and gum rather than being swallowed whole.

Troches and lozenges

An option for patients who cannot swallow solid dose forms, including children, older patients and people with a feeding tube. Flavouring can be added to improve palatability, and sugar free or alcohol free bases are available.

Oral liquids and suspensions

A topical preparation applied to a defined area rather than taken by mouth. The base can be adjusted to suit the skin and the prescribed ingredient.

Useful when a specific strength is required, when a combination needs to be brought into a single capsule, or when a formula needs to be made without a particular filler or colouring.

A dosage form is simply the physical form a medicine takes, such as a tablet, a cream or a liquid. An alternative dosage form is that same prescribed medicine, remade by a compounding pharmacist into a different form or a different strength, with your prescriber's consent.

Because a compounded medicine is made individually for one patient, it is prepared on receipt of a valid prescription and is not a commercially registered product. Your doctor, dentist, specialist or veterinarian decides whether an alternative dosage form is appropriate for you.

Not every patient can take a medicine in the form it is manufactured in. Some people cannot swallow a tablet or capsule. Some react to a dye, preservative or filler. Some need a strength that is not made commercially.
